VBS Day Two: Who Knew Getting Wet Was So Much Fun When
I first read the directions for the Day Two game “Got Your Back,” I knew it would be a hit. After all, how can you not have fun with water balloons on a hot summer day? Luke and I spent at least an hour on Sunday afternoon filling over two hundred balloons. I’m glad I found this slick “Tie-Not” device for filling and tying the balloons that made the job go fairly quickly.
Today the trick was keeping the water balloons hidden long enough to make sure the students would listen to the directions for the game. Thankfully, Luke had the presence of mind to cover the large tubs of balloons with a flat sheet of cardboard. Once partners were chosen and the game demonstrated, there was lots of laughter from both students and leaders. I was especially thankful for the teen volunteers who cheerfully stepped in to play with students who didn’t have a partner for the game.
As we wrapped up the games, many of the students were asking about what was coming tomorrow. When I told them they had to come back tomorrow to find out, they were begging to play this game again—the sure sign of a successful day at VBS.
